Superb Luxury Design
In the late 1980s, Škoda was still manufacturing cars that conceptually dated back to the 1960s. In spite of its dated image and being the subject of jokes, the Škoda remained a common sight on the roads of UK and Western Europe throughout the 1970s and 80s. The turning point came in 1987 with the Favorit model. In 1991, Škoda became a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group.
Fast forward twenty years and news is that the latest Škoda is nudging its way into the luxury limousine hire market. The new Škoda Superb successor to Škoda Auto’s existing flagship will premier at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
Offering new design elements, smart technological solutions and new engines, ranging from 105bhp to 260bhp. A choice of three petrol and three diesel engines will be available for the new Superb. Besides manual transmissions, the choices will include automatic DSG transmissions and the newest generation of the Haldex four-wheel drive system.
The Škoda Superb offers more than just enough space. The generously designed interior guarantees exceptional comfort to all travellers. Plenty of rear-seat space, you do not have to curve or hunch up your shoulders and you will be able to stretch out your legs comfortably. In addition you will find a lot of imaginative details inside. Marketed as a large family saloon, it has all the fundamental requirements to be marketed as a unique limousine.
Another major innovation is ‘Twindoor,’ a unique tailgate opening system developed and patented by Škoda engineers. This smart and useful solution makes it possible to open just the boot lid when loading “normal” sized item or lift the entire tailgate, including the rear window, which makes the use of the boot significantly more flexible and comfortable. The sophisticated and easily accessible boot offers 565 litres of load space in the basic arrangement, 85 litres more compared to the current model.
On top of the above, the new Superb will offer a lot of other innovations and design solutions, such as AFS, Adaptive Frontlight Syste, that changes the geometry of the headlamp beam and adapts the lighting in front of the vehicle to suit different driving conditions, thus enabling the driver to identify obstacles and react to them in time even more than today. On the surface the new Skoda seems to have what makes it a good limousine – style, space, luxury, class.
